Efficiency

What is happening?

Data collection

When data needs to be collected, it takes substantial time to even locate it, never mind the manual compilation into reports (on possibly in-accurate information). When a Lab's procedures are managed on paper, there is little or no way to sensibly collect the data required for the wide variety of reporting requirements so Cath Lab efficiency and management can be compromised.

Delays or Cancellation reasons, Dosage and Lab performance data are important elements to record - which are a whole lot easier to collect, if compiled automatically as a seamless part of the day's work.

Labyrinth can even calculate Lab Utilisation data over a variety of time-periods.

Without a suitable management system, recording data manually is virtually impossible and likely to be largely inaccurate.

How can it be improved?

Making decisions

Efficiency is important to any organisation, but for the NHS it has always been critical.
What does this mean, in the context of one of an Acute Trust’s largest investments – the Cath Labs?
How about ‘An overall increase in utilisation of resources, with no additional staff’?

Labyrinth provides answers to the key questions:

-          HOW WELL ARE WE MANAGING THE PATIENT PATHWAY, EXPERIENCE AND LOS?
-          HOW MUCH VALUE IS LOST IN DELAYS / POOR LAB UTILISATION?
-          CAN MORE INCOME BE GENERATED BY MANAGING THE LABS BETTER?
-          HOW CAN WE COLLECT PERFORMANCE AND AUDIT DATA MORE EASILY?
-          HOW SIGNIFICANT WOULD AN ABILITY TO FORECAST DEMAND BE?

Efficient Tracking

Data is downloaded each day from your appointment system. As each Patient moves through the various stages of their procedure, staff record their progress with a simple mouse-click, which logs the time and event.

Labyrinth tracks Patient pathways from arrival on the Ward, through the Labs and on to discharge, allowing clinical staff to concentrate on clinical work instead of simply chasing information.

List Views

One of the great features of Labyrinth is that staff can view the data from many different perspectives. They can select by patients, procedures, admission types, from both the Lab or Ward perspective. This allows staff to organise and view all the information which is relevant to their own particular role.

All of the Labs' Day List patients can be seen simultaneously on one screen, with each Lab able to view their own complete day's list, on-screen, in real-time. If a task has not been performed, Labyrinth's dashboard screen will act as a highly visible prompt.

Seamless Communication

Labyrinth dramatically improves communication on patient progress between Wards and Labs, by providing details on all Patients and Labs in real-time on one screen - removing the frustrating and time-consuming effort of chasing Patient and Lab status.

Now the List can be run efficiently, with the stress is taken out of the Lab Co-ordinator's role, giving them time to contribute to clinical work.
